Mr. Rhame began his teaching career in Mt. Enterprise during his senior year of college. At that time he taught half of a day. He began teaching at Carlisle High School in 1969. After three successful years at Carlisle, Mr. Rhame moved to Overton where he taught for six years. Mr. Rhame spent seven years directing bands in Henderson. In 1984, his concert band came in 7th in the Honor Band competition. After directing in Henderson, Mr. Rhame taught for eight years at West Rusk. In 1989, his concert band finished 6th in the state. Mr. Rhame╠s bands have been in the Texas Music Educators╠ Association Honor Band finals seven times. Two of those times were with Carlisle in which he and his band won the top spot in 2001 and 2005. Each year the band has placed in the finals of the Outstanding Performance Series in association with the Association of Texas Small School Bands. Last year his band swept all of the first place spots in OPS. This is only the second time in the history of OPS that this has been done.

Mr. Rhame is a member of TMEA, ATSSB, TMAA, and Phi Beta Mu fraternity. He has taught percussion at summer camps for twenty-three years. Mr. Rhame also taught guitar and percussion for a number of years at the University of Texas at Tyler.
